What is Accelerated TMS?

Accelerated TMS (aTMS) is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological treatment for treatment-resistant major depression that uses magnetic pulses to modulate brain activity. It condenses the overall treatment time while maintaining or exceeding the efficacy of traditional TMS protocols.

Are there different Accelerated TMS protocols?

Yes. The seminal five-day protocol (originally known as the Stanford/SAINT protocol) delivers ten sessions per day. Other research and clinical protocols vary the total days and sessions (e.g., 15-day courses).

Is Accelerated TMS covered by insurance?

Most insurers currently do not cover accelerated protocols. Coverage for TMS generally focuses on rTMS and iTBS at this time.

What do treatment days look like?

On day one we identify the precise treatment site using landmarks, neuro-navigation, and imaging when applicable, and determine stimulation intensity. Sessions last about 9 minutes and occur hourly (ten per day). Between sessions you relax in a private room.

Does Accelerated TMS have any side effects?

TMS is generally well-tolerated. Common, usually mild effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and scalp soreness. Serious adverse events are rare; risks include seizures and issues related to metallic objects in the head/neck.

An RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) is a yoga instructor who has completed a standardized teacher‑training program at a Registered Yoga School (RYS) and then registered with the Yoga Alliance, the largest nonprofit organization that sets educational and ethical standards for yoga teaching worldwide. RYT credentials indicate that a teacher has completed the required hours of training in yoga philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and safe practice guidelines, and agrees to uphold Yoga Alliance’s code of conduct and continuing‑education requirements.

Generally, therapeutic yoga is not covered by health insurance plans. However, clients can often use their Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), or Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) to offset costs. No, there are no strict age limits for therapeutic yoga. It can be adapted for individuals of all ages, from adolescents to older adults, as long as the approach is tailored to their physical abilities and mental health needs. Our instructor will ensure that movements and techniques are safe and appropriate for each participant, focusing on comfort and accessibility rather than physical intensity. For those under 18, please give us a call to discuss your needs and the available options.

There is no fixed length for therapeutic yoga because it is highly individualized. Some people choose to attend a few sessions to learn foundational techniques, while others incorporate it as an ongoing part of their mental health care. Typically, we recommend starting with a series of sessions (often 6 to 8) to allow time for meaningful progress and adjustment to your goals. But we intentionally do not require a minimum number of sessions when booking, so you can book just one session at a time.

Your first session is all about creating a comfortable and supportive experience. You don’t need any prior yoga experience or special equipment, just wear clothing that allows you to move easily and breathe comfortably. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to settle in and bring any questions or concerns you’d like to discuss.
