Biography
Kate Friberg is an RYT-certified Yoga Alliance instructor and Rumi Mind Health’s Community Engagement & Operations Coordinator. In her community engagement role, Kate helps build and strengthen relationships with local healthcare providers, practices, organizations, and community partners, fostering collaboration and developing a strong network of trusted referral relationships. She also leads therapeutic, nature-rooted yoga experiences at Rumi, bringing the same emphasis on connection and community to her work with students.
Her yoga teaching is inspired by the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether, which Kate weaves into sessions to help students cultivate grounding, fluidity, strength, balance, and inner spaciousness. With a deep personal connection to the natural world and a longstanding intuitive practice, she creates yoga experiences that feel both stabilizing and reflective, inviting students to explore their inner landscape with gentleness.
As a student of clinical psychology and art therapy, Kate approaches yoga as a somatic tool for emotional regulation and mental health support. She is particularly interested in how yoga and meditation can support individuals navigating mood disorders, PTSD, and treatment-resistant depression. Her classes emphasize accessibility and inclusivity for everybody and every body, offering supportive language and thoughtful modifications so that each student can move in ways that feel safe and authentic.
Kate’s teaching style blends warmth, humility, and presence. She values tradition over trend, grounding her work in classical Hatha philosophy while honoring each student’s lived experience. Through her work at Rumi, Kate hopes to strengthen connections both within the community and within ourselves, helping people reconnect with their bodies, one another, and the natural rhythms that support healing and growth.
